lauren foss goodman
My name is Lauren Foss Goodman and I am a writer, teacher and student.  I have lived in China, Japan, and Taiwan, but am currently located in Western Massachusetts.  I hold an MFA in fiction writing from the Program for Poets & Writers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  My first novel, A Heart Beating Hard, is now available from 21st Century Prose, a new fiction imprint at the University of Michigan Press.

I teach online, face-to-face and hybrid courses in the Interdisciplinary Studies and  English/Communications departments at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and serve as an Instructional Design Specialist for the wonderful degree-completion cohort programs run through the Department of Graduate and Continuing Education.  I love working with students of all ages, but have a particular enthusiasm for designing safe, supportive, dynamic educational environments for adults.

I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Learning, Media and Technology through the College of Education at UMass Amherst.  I am also an Educational Technology Consultant in the UMass Instructional Media Lab.  In this role, I provide technology support and pedagogical advisement to faculty for their online and hybrid courses.  My academic and professional interests are in the intersection between writing, teaching, and technology.  I believe that we need to provide high-quality, individualized instruction to all people, and am always seeking ways of honoring diversity and creating access to education.

Thank you for your interest in me and in my work.  Feel free to contact me at: LaurenFossGoodman <at> gmail <dot> com.
